Out of Office
Malene and Bob will be on the road first thing next week tracking down new stock. The restocking expedition will last the entire week, as there will be much travelling to various destinations involved. We’re anticipating a full restock of our Sterling Silver and Baltic Amber ranges, with completely new lines of rings, pendants, and earrings.
What this means for our customers is that no orders will be filled or posted next week (28 May - 1 June). We apologise if this inconveniences anyone, but when you see our new stock in a couple of weeks, we think you’ll agree it was worth it.
For delivery next week, all orders should be placed before 5pm, Friday, 25 May. We’ll be back open for business the next weekend, 2 and 3 June, and over the week that follows will be preparing our new stock for sale - photographing each item, preparing the website, etc.
New lines of Fashion Jewellery
This morning we released a small selection of new necklaces, and sets of necklaces and earrings. I know we’ve been saying we’re running low on stock, and the big restocking expedition is imminent, but a few days ago a long forgotten delivery turned up on our doorstep. The packages were worn and weathered, and looked to have been sitting on the deck of a battered old cargo ship for many months, but inside, the stock was in fine condition.
There’s a little over a dozen fashion necklaces, and half a dozen new sets of necklaces and earrings. Hope you like them.
Wholesale lots or pick your own
Our web-site has been up for about two months now, and they’ve been an interesting two months. Whenever you begin a new business or launch an existing venture down a different road, you do so with a set of pre-conceived ideas, and in many cases only a sketchy plan for how it will all play out.
We were no exception.
In the early days (way back in April!), when our stock rooms were full to overflowing, we were unsure how to offer our merchandise for sale. Should we sell pre-picked wholesale lots, and in doing so make life a little easier for our customers? Or should we leave it up to them to choose exactly which items to buy from our entire collection?
Following in the footsteps of successful politicians everywhere, we compromised.
For the past couple of months, our Ladies Watches and Fashion Jewellery (necklaces, and sets of necklaces and earrings) have been available individually. Each item was listed with a small thumb nail picture, accompanied by a much larger picture for closer examination. Sure, there was a minimum purchase order, but compared to our competition, it was relatively small.
Our Sterling Silver rings and pendants, as well as our Baltic Amber pieces were displayed and sold in batch lots - pre-picked by Malene and Bob to reflect individual styles and tastes. These lots numbered 5-10 pieces and sold as an ‘all-or-nothing’ proposition.
With new stock due in about three weeks, we’ve decided to mix things up a little. The consensus from our customers seems to be that THEY prefer to have the final say in each item they buy. Pre-prepared wholesale lots are all well and good, but many of our customers are party planners who have already experienced the downsides of packaged sets of jewellery from other providers. They want to choose for themselves, and who are we to argue with that?
So we’ll do our very best to ensure that the new lines of Silver and Amber are available for purchase individually. We’d be interested in feedback on this point from anyone with strong opinions either way. Either leave a comment here, or contact us direct via our contact page.
Restocking the Sterling Silver
Regular customers will no doubt be aware that stocks of many or our Sterling Silver and Baltic Amber lines are running low. Our choice of amber rings and pendants has been reduced to only a handful of wholesale lots, while our selection of plain sterling silver rings fits a little too easily onto a single page.
Happily, this situation will soon be rectified. In just three weeks, Malene and Bob will be hitting the road again in search of more bargains and new lines. We take our restocking very seriously, and strive to introduce all new ranges every few months. The last thing we want is to find ourselves stuck selling the same designs month after month like so many of the ‘bigger‘ wholesalers, and Malene has been crying out for something new to photograph for weeks now.
A word of advice to any of our customers with an interest in the few remaining Sterling Silver and Baltic Amber offerings: when the new stock comes in, there is a strong possibility that existing lines will be removed to make way for fresher stock. So the next three weeks may be your last opportunity to get your hands on these rings and pendants for some time.
As to where we source our stock - well… that’s a trade secret. All I will say is that boats, camels, and some serious hill trekking all play their part. Bob has been putting in long hours down at the local gym recently, and Malene has been researching various tribal customs and silver mining techniques - all to ensure they’re ready for whatever the upcoming expedition throws their way.
