Regular customers may have noticed changes to our home page recently. These changes are only visible to customers who have already placed an order with us, and include a new section listing the best selling lines of the past week. If you can’t see this page, then either you haven’t placed an order yet, or you are viewing our website on a different PC to the one used to place your previous order.

This new section on the home page is designed to make purchasing decisions a little easier, and to highlight those items that are selling rapidly. If any of the items displayed are of interest to you (and they certainly should be, as they have already proven themselves to be strong sellers to retailers across the UK), then you should consider placing larger orders, rather than ordering only 1 or 2 of each. As these items are the strongest sellers, they are also the most likely to sell out.

Our autumn collection includes a number of tribal necklaces, necklace sets, and bracelets. These are proving to be very strong sellers, with many customers ordering them in large volumes. Most of these designs come in plain silver, though the tribal bracelets do include a small amount of colour.

We’ve already sold out of a couple of these lines and will not be restocking this side of Christmas, so customers are advised to buy early and in volume if they want to have a good collection available going into December.

We’re pleased to be able to announce that we’ve reduced the cut off point for free shipping. Effective immediately, shipping is free to UK customers ordering above £200, and Irish customers ordering above €200. These changes do not apply to customers in the Channel Islands.

For customers who place small but regular weekly orders, there is a huge saving to be made in combining orders and placing a single large order instead of 3 smaller orders.

Our new Facebook page went live today. The purpose of this page is to make it easier to keep in touch with our customers. Though we do send out stock update emails every few months to recent customers, many of these emails become lost in spam filters, or fail to arrive due to incorrect email addresses. And we don’t send out emails nearly as often as we’d like. This blog helps, but it’s a bit of a chore to remember to check it for uipdates. That problem doesn’t exist on Facebook.

When we have new stock, it will appear on our Facebook page first. If particular items are proving very popular and are in danger of selling out, we’ll mention it there first too. Changes to our website, ordering process, shipping and VAT charges, etc. All will appear on Facebook.

We’ll also be using the page to get feedback on new stock, and to generate opinions on improvements that could be made. Please don’t be shy about telling us what you think.

So if you’d like to be kept a little more up to date, become a fan of Nirvana Wholesale on Facebook.

Customers who tried to place orders on Saturday evening, 15th August, will have noticed that the site was problematic or down for much of the evening. This was due to some work being carried out on the site, which culminated in the movement of the site to a new server. All issues have now been resolved, and we are not expecting any more problems.

Our regular customers will be aware that we never list out of stock items. When we sell out of a particular item, it is removed from our available catalogue. Up until now that has been the only indicator of stock levels, making it difficult for some customers to decide which lines needed to be purchased immediately, and which could wait until the next order.

With that in mind, we’ve added a new stock level icon to each element in our catalogue. Hovering your mouse over the green in stock icon will now give you an indication of how many remain.

Rather than displaying actual figures, the pop up gives a rough guide to stock levels. In the example above, we have more than 50 of the charm necklace 60046 in stock. It will also tell you if we have more than 20, more than 10, or less than 10. The fewer items remain in stock, the closer we are to selling out.

Our hope is that this will make the buying decisions a little easier for our customers. In most cases it would be safe to hold off on buying items where more than 50 remain for a week or so, but where we have less than 10 available, a quick decision might be needed as a single customer could buy all remaining items.

In the past few weeks we’ve made a number of changes to the site that we’d like to tell you about.

As we are an Irish business, we’ve been charging all our European customers VAT at the Irish rate of 21.5%. From January of this year, we’re now also registered for VAT in the UK. This means that all non-VAT registered UK customers will now be charged the UK rate of 15%. Other European buyers will continue to be charged the Irish rate. As before, VAT registered customers in EU countries other than Ireland (including the UK), can deduct VAT prior to paying by entering their VAT number into the space provided on the checkout page.

The second change we’ve made is to increase the minimum order size to £60. We’re doing this because of the declining value of sterling, which has had a serious impact on our shipping costs to the UK. Rather than increase our prices or our shipping charges, we’ve decided to raise the minimum spend. As we subsidise all shipping, very small orders were simply not cost effective.

The final change that we’ve introduced in January is a range of PDF catalogues that can be downloaded directly from the website. These catalogues are updated every day directly from our database, and come in three versions: Sterling prices, Euro prices, and no prices. The catalogues without prices have been created specifically for you to show to your customers. It lists item numbers, descriptions, and pictures, all without any reference to Nirvana Wholesale or pricing information.

A word of warning about the PDF catalogues: As they are generated early each morning, it’s possible that an item may sell out during the day, so we are unable to guarantee an item in the catalogues will be in stock if you place an order later in the day.

The PDF catalogues can be downloaded here.

November is the busiest month for wholesalers, as their retail customers prepare for the Christmas period. It’s rare indeed that a successful retailer holds off on placing large orders until December. Last minute top-up orders are a different thing entirely.

Thanks to our arrangements with DHL, we are confident that our December delivery times will remain at 1-2 days across most of the UK and Ireland. However, as with all online companies, we do have a cut off point for Christmas orders. To ensure delivery early in Christmas weak, customers should ensure that any last minute orders are placed and paid for by Wednesday, 17th December. If you are paying by telephone rather than Paypal, you should place your order early in the day to allow enough time for us to call you the same day. Deliveries placed on Wednesday will be dispatched either the next day, or, more likely, on Friday morning.

In common with most wholesalers, we will be shutting down for our Christmas break from 19th December – 5th January. Orders can still be placed during this period, as the website will be running and fully up to date throughout, but these orders will not be processed or dispatched until January 5th.

We’d like to wish all our customers a happy and a very prosperous Christmas.

December is the busiest month of the year for retailers, and most of you will have sourced all of your Christmas stock before the month begins. But not everyone plans ahead, and in the current economic climate, many retailers may be holding off on placing large orders until they see how early sales go.

Back in the days when we used Royal mail for our deliveries, this might have been a problem, as they are notoriously slow over the Christmas period, making the delivery times of orders unpredictable. This year however, we do not foresee any such problems. We’ve been using DHL very successfully for many months now, and we expect December delivery times to be the same as previous months.

Over 90% of orders delivered to UK mainland addresses arrive the day after they are shipped, and we see this continuing over the coming busy weeks.
